In the forests of Nistelrode, just behind the Bernhoven hospital in Uden, you'll find a really fun gnome trail. The gnome trail in Nistelrode is approximately 2.5 kilometers long. During this walk, you'll search for various gnomes in the forest, so look around carefully! Also, pay attention to the trees where the gnomes live. If they're inside, feel free to knock on the door - they might just come out! Look up as well, because high up in the trees at the end of the trail, there are also many birdhouses, so you might spot some beautiful birds!

Because the Maashorst is higher than its surroundings, the area is drier than the rest. People like that, so people have been living here for centuries. And where people come, the environment changes. Thus, medieval farmers cut down a lot of wood for the construction of fields. Extensive heathlands developed on these cleared patches of land. Farmers let their sheep graze there. They ate the heath so bare that the sand was exposed. The wind started blowing it away. The result: the drifting dunes of Bedaf. A special piece of primeval area where you can wander freely and where it feels like time has stood still.
Walk along the winding paths among the ancient trees. Peer over the sand hills and watch the kids build huts and slide down the dunes. Also fun: exploring the area on horseback!
